Stan Koukarine
Prior to co-founding Adara Technologies in April 2006, Stan was a key member of the Architecture and Technology Engineering Department of Rogers Cable Communications where he launched and managed many strategic technology integration initiatives relating to the Digital Television platform. During his 5 year tenure, Stan defined network architecture roadmaps for Rogers’ complex DTV network boasting 1.5 million active digital television set-top devices controlled from central location. Rogers’ unique quadruple-play environment (the first of its kind in North America) demanded higher levels of network reliability and availability, process automation and continuous improvement as well as a strategic focus on converged approaches for Next Generation Network Architectures (NGNA).
Previously, Stan was employed by the Subscriber Networks Division of Scientific Atlanta (now a Cisco company). Here, he was involved with the early deployment stages of S-A’s Digital Broadband Delivery System which today remains the state-of-the-art video compression program distribution system for cable TV, featuring reverse-path services for video-on-demand, switched digital video, pay-per-view and internet access. While with Scientific-Atlanta, Stan was instrumental in launching and supporting Rogers Cable’s first broad scale deployments of S-A’s digital television broadband platform.
Prior to his 3-year tenure with Scientific-Atlanta, Stan helped pioneer VoIP technology deployments as a technical consultant and also developed highly specialized computer-controlled audio/video hardware and software applications for broadcasters.
Stan received (the North American equivalent of) a Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering in 1994 from Moscow Power Engineering Institute , Russia’s top technical university.
Stan Koukarine and his wife, Masha, have one daughter and one son and reside in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
